The results are in for my Bought it, Forgot it- March post! I have been trying to use these items all month long and with the month coming to an end, it’s time to see how it went.
The first item I wanted to try and use was Mac’s Satin Taupe eyeshadow I bought this over the Christmas break because it was apparently a “must have” eyeshadow and then just didn’t reach for it often. This is a beautiful eyeshadow, I don’t deny that. I think the colour of this eyeshadow is a staple neutral, an everyday type of colour. Saying that, I don’t think you need to spend the money on this eyeshadow specifically to get this look. These types of colours are available in every brand, in many price points- many of which are cheaper. Although this is good quality, I think very other eyeshadows can create a similar look once it’s all blended. I think the other reason why I don’t reach for this is because it’s a single eyeshadow. I really do like using palettes better, although I’m not fully sure why. I would make a Mac palette or a Z-Palette, but the cost adds up so fast, so I always hesitate to create one. I have this thing where it would have to be filled or it would drive me insane. Does anyone else get like this? Or maybe it’s just me.
Verdict: Nice, but not a staple in my collection
The next forgotten item was Himalaya Herbals Kajal Liner. I bought this on Ebay a few months ago after hearing people rave about kajal liners. This is the blackest liner I own and it’s super creamy. I think this is the one item I didn’t really even use that much despite trying to incorporate it. This is just too time consuming for everyday. Rather than just grabbing a liner pen or dipping a brush, I have to work with this a lot more. It does make a classic smoky eye, but it requires so much blending to make it not so harsh. The blending has to be done with your fingers to heat up the waxy consistency, so it’s messy. I’m lazy so I like to get as much sleep in the mornings as possible and this means that I get up as late as possible. Basically, I don’t leave time for this.
Verdict: Too time consuming, this will likely remain forgotten unfortunately.
The last item I had pushed out of my routine was Benefit’s High Beam. I got this over Christmas as well, and I was a bit disappointed because it just didn’t look like what I expected. I couldn’t figure out how to apply this, so I gave up on it for a bit.I am happy to say that this item has made it’s way out of the forgotten pile. After some trial and error, I figured out that if I swipe this on my hand, dip a brush in it, sweep it on my face and then blend with my fingers it is closer to the look I like. Not perfect, but getting there. This isn’t that noticeable in person, but I noticed while taking pictures for my Spring Makeup Tutorial, that it is much more glowy in pictures.
Verdict: I’m enjoying this, but I’m still on the hunt for my perfect highlighter.
There you have it, that’s how March’s Bought it, Forgot it went! I hope you enjoyed this series, I’ll be back next month with some more forgotten products to test out.
