I recently went on shopping trip so I have a makeup haul for you guys! I was going to wait to post this since I’m really sick with laryngitis but I can’t help myself so I’m putting it up now. I just can’t sit around, I get bored so easily. I haven’t tried most of this stuff because I haven’t worn makeup a lot since getting sick, but there are a couple replacement type items in the haul. I’ll forewarn, this will likely be a long one so get comfy and let’s get to it!
I’m going to start with Sephora first. I had saved my birthday gift cards so I was really excited to get to Sephora to take advantage of the cheaper American prices.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation- Mont Blanc
This was on the top of my list for this trip, since it’s $10 less in the US as opposed to in Canada. I was looking for the shade Siberia since that’s what I matched myself with online, but this Sephora didn’t carry it. I ended up swatching Mont Blanc and it looks to be a good match so that’s the shade I ended up purchasing.I usually go for Neutral undertones and this is cool, but I don’t think it’ll make a huge difference. I have wanted this for a long time and I can’t wait to use it.
Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library- Bite Beauty
This next item was definitely not on my list. I was eyeing this several months ago, but it disappeared off Sephora’s website before I could get to it. When I saw this, there was no question this was going in my basket. These are smaller lip glosses, but I honestly don’t mind because I got 12 for the price, which is only $4 a gloss. Plus, I have never finished a lip gloss anyway. I have been wanting to try out Bite Beauty and this is a great way to do it. There are such a variety of shades in here, I’ll have something to top off a lot of the lipsticks I already own. These are pigmented enough to be worn on their own as well.
They’re Real Push Up Liner
The third thing I picked up at Sephora was the They’re Real Push Up Liner. I have heard somewhat mixed reviews for this, but I really want to give it a go for myself. If it helps me get even eyeliner wings, it’ll be my new best friend. I think I’ll review this or do a first impression.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #12
The one tool I picked up from Sephora was highly recommended to me by a lot of you. I mentioned wanting to try this for the Dipbrow and so many of you sang it’s praises. The angle brush on one end looks dense, yet thin enough to get in to sculpt out my brows. And the spoolie on the other end will save me from carrying around the Brow Whiz just for the spoolie.
Sephora Luster Matte Long Wear Lip Color-Mulberry
The last item I picked up from Sephora was on my list as well. I had been hearing good things about Sephora’s new liquid lipsticks so I picked this one up in a great fall shade. It’s almost a cranberry colour with a hint of berry or plum. It’s super creamy and I can’t wait to create a look focusing on this.
VIB Gift Bag
On the day we went to Sephora they were giving out gift bags to VIB members and it came with a ton of great products to test out. Definitely a great bonus.
Now let’s move onto Ulta, where I did most of my shopping. We don’t have Ulta in Canada, so I was really looking forward to going to one during the trip.
Lorac Pro and Pro 2 Palettes
I finally got my hands on these! These are the one thing I didn’t want to leave without. We can’t get Lorac in Canada at all (except from Nordstrom online and the shipping is insane) so I wanted to pick these up for sure. I have wanted the original for months and the second intrigued me, so I decided to get them both since I won’t be back to the US for a while. My sister wanted these as well, and luckily they had just enough in stock or it might have ended in a brawl haha. I am so excited to play with these but just from swatching I can already say that these are by far, the softest eye shadows I have ever touched. They are so pigmented and even just the swatches are still lingering on my arm from Saturday after hot tubbing, a shower and a bath. That’s impressive if you ask me. I plan on reviewing both of these, so stay tuned for that.
L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows- Eternal Sunshine and Bronzed Taupe
I highlighted this formula in my standout drug store makeup post, so I had to pick up more of these on this trip. I ended up going with Eternal Sunshine which is a softer gold and Bronzed Taupe, which is pretty much as the name says it’s taupe with some shimmery bronze accent in it. In the store I thought Eternal Sunshine looked a bit more champagne rather than gold (I didn’t look at the name) but it’s alright because it’s not a strong yellow gold, which I don’t like on myself usually. Bronzed Taupe will look amazing with the blue contacts I’ve been wearing recently. These about $10 in Canada and $8 in the US so I saved a little bit there. There were also part of a Buy one Get one 50% sale.
L’Oreal Les Nudes Collection- Julianne and JLo’s Nude
JLo- left, Julianne- right
I spotted these lipsticks as I was leaving the L’Oreal section and decided to pick them up. JLo’s nude is much more on the brown, deeper side, which Julianne’s is lighter and much more pink. These seem to have a glossy finish, which I don’t have a lot of in what I already own. With fall coming, I’m going to be putting some of my bright shades aside for a few months and I’m excited to have some more muted shades to play with.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather- Deep Forest
Next I headed over to Maybelline to look at the Color Tattoos. I ended up picking up this grey-green shade called Deep Forest. This is one of their new matte (leather) shades I can’t say I’m impressed with the formula. They are much drier than the original or metal formula. I’m curious how this will apply when I use it as a base. I may end up spraying my brush with some setting spray first to see if that helps.
NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray
The other brand I was really looking forward to picking up was NYX. They don’t sell NYX in my area, so I wanted to take advantage of being able to see things in person. This is a repurchase. I ordered this online several months ago and used it all up. This is the best setting spray I have tried and I plan on continuing to purchase it.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream- Monte Carlo
This next item was on my list for this trip. I’ve seen people wearing this shade and it looked beautiful and rich on them. I think this will be a great fall colour as well. Can you tell I’m excited for dark lips this fall? Pretty much the only thing to look forward to about fall coming.
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss- Beige
The last NYX product I picked up was the infamous Beige gloss. It’s just a staple pink to have, so it’s a great edition my collection. Definitely not beige though.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
This was a repurchase as well. I already have one of these and love it, but it is starting to show signs of wear after several months of use. I decided to pick this up as a back up in case the other one tears.
Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Spray and Intensive Hair Unit Renewal Treatment
I picked up a few hair products from Ulta as well, from brands that aren’t in Canada or are hard to find. The first one is a sea salt spray. I borrowed some of this from my sister and it really helped to hold curl. I don’t wash my hair everyday so if I curl it, it needs to hold for a couple days. I also decided to give this intensive hair treatment a go. My hair is so dry, so I’m always looking for remedies. This is a quick conditioning treatment that I can easily do in the shower. Fingers crossed it works!
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave in Product
The second last hair product I picked up is also an attempt to tackle my dry hair. I’ve heard great things about this so I’m excited to give this a go. It also came with a sample of their repairing mask which I’m excited to try. It was $30 so I didn’t buy the mask, but if I like the sample I can order it.
Sexy Hair Root Pump Spray Mousse
Lastly for hair products, I picked up a root pump mousse spray to get some volume in my hair. I have lots of hair and it’s thick, so it doesn’t have lots of volume at the top. After I curl my hair I like some volume in the top, so I’m excited to try this.
The last couple places we went for makeup were cosmetic company outlets and we found some great deals.
MAC Lipsticks- Angel and Pure Zen
Angel, Pure Zen^
I was surprised to find MAC lipsticks at this outlet and even more surprised to find them for $11.25! That’s almost $8 off the Canadian price. They didn’t have many shades, but I did find a couple I liked. Angel is a really pretty light pink and Pure Zen is a peachy nude.
MAC Paint Pot- Soft Orchre
At the same store my sister and I also found MAC Paint Pots. Also not tons of shades, but these were $14 rather than $25CAD. I picked up Soft Ochre it’s pretty close to my skin tone except a little more yellow which helps to neutralize the eyelid.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
The last thing I found was a complete shock, I didn’t expect to find this. I got a sample of this a few months ago and my skin loved it! I have been putting off buying it since it’s $50CAD, but my sister found this and it was $11 cheaper than it is here. That was a little more reasonable price to me. My mom actually got me this as a late birthday gift so that was extra nice. This stuff works amazing if you have dry skin, just be aware that it does have a very strong herb type smell, in case you’re sensitive to that.
So there you have it, my USA haul! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products in the comments below. As well, if you haven’t entered my giveaway, you still have 11 days left to enter, so go do it! I will link it below.
Bye for now!
