May 2015 Favourites!

May 25, 2015

Hi Everyone!

I feel like it’s been an eternity since I posted a monthly favourites. I skipped April because I had just collected some new products right near the end of the month, so I didn’t feel like I had enough time to call anything a favourite yet. So I haven’t posted a favourites in exactly 2 months which is a long time. This feels super overdue, so let’s get to it!

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel

My first favourite of the month is a skincare favourite. I bought this last month to deal with some texture on my skin that I could not get rid of. Since then, the texture has pretty much cleared up and I think it was an allergic reaction, but I have still been loving this. It makes my skin so soft and clean feeling. I don’t use this in place of my cleanser, but I use this after I cleanse almost like 1 minute mask. If I get lazy and don’t use this for a couple days I really notice my skin getting rough and it just doesn’t look as nice. My sister borrowed/stole some of this from me and she loved it as well.

Lancome Bifacil Eye Makeup Remover

I got this as a Sephora point perk in April after hearing tons of people rave about it. I have really been enjoying this. It gets eye makeup off quickly and it doesn’t make my eyes feel greasy or leave a residue. It’s the best liquid makeup remover I’ve found for getting off stubborn eye makeup and I don’t have to rub at my eyes to get everything off. This is so expensive so I’m hoping it comes up as a point perk again so I can pick up a few rather than buy the full size.

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

This month my makeup ‘focus’ has been all about the skin. I have been spending more time on my face makeup and achieving super glowy skin and then just doing super simple eye makeup all month long. This setting spray is great for setting down any powder and making everything blend nicely. It leaves a nice dewy finish and it smells great! This is my 2nd bottle and I will definitely be stocking up in the US later this summer.

MAC Powder Blush- Springsheen

When I initially built my MAC blush palette this was a shade I was most looking forward to, but I hadn’t really played with it much until now. This is what I wanted Nars Orgasm to be and it wasn’t. It has a beautiful gold shimmer but it’s soft, pigmented and not gritty or chunky. For a light makeup day focusing on glowing skin this is the perfect pop of colour on the cheeks that really wakes up your face.

MAC Pro Sculpting Powder- Emphasize

I have finally found something that is light enough to set my concealer. I have searched for something that is actually brightening for a long time, but it’s hard to find something that actually works for fair skin. This is super brightening and even possible to overdo even on my pale skin. This does have some very subtle shimmer in it, but I don’t find it transfers when i apply it which is good because I’m not into shimmer under my eyes. I will say that this isn’t really a powder you can build up, it kind of goes a bit weird if you try to pile it on, but with only a little (all you need anyway) it’s the most brightening thing I’ve found.

L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer

IMG_0314

To help with the glowy skin I have been loving all month long, I have been using this ‘primer’. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a primer, since it doesn’t prolong the wear of your makeup but it more just adds a glow. Since I have normal to dry skin, primer’s not a necessity for me so I didn’t really mind that, but it should be noted for someone who does need a primer. This makes your skin metallic looking before you add foundation on top, but with foundation it just gives a natural dewy finish which I love. I have almost used this up and I will definitely need to restock, since this is a spring/summer staple for me.

Essence Silky Touch Blush- Adorable

My last favourite is another blush I have been reaching for a lot this month. This is probably one of the most inexpensive blushes in my collection, but you’d never know it. This is silky soft and ridiculously pigmented and all for like $4. Unbelievable actually. This shade goes with basically everything so it’s handy when I just can’t choose. It has some soft shimmer, but I don’t really find it noticeable which is just fine with me.

I love the Essence blushes!! It’s funny because I just got the Lancome Eye Makeup Remover and I couldn’t believe how amazing it is!! I have tried so many eye makeup removers and nothing has compared to this. It literally came out with one easy swipe. I haven’t even looked up the price and now that you said that, I don’t know if I want to!

Ya they are so cheap and so good! The lancome remover on the other hand is so expensive. My brain automatically thinks of how much makeup I could have in it’s place! But I may cave

When I read your title, I had to look twice! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of May! This is crazy! I’ll have to check out the NYX Dewy setting spray. I’ve tried the matte one which is good but I feel I get the same results from the elf one tht is $3. IDK why but I randomly like the dewy look! And wow on that last blush! What a pretty shade and you’re right! So pigmented!!!

It is hard to believe! I haven’t tried the matte one, since my skin can be dry I get matte automatically lol. Ya definitely check out Essence, they have some great hidden gems πŸ™‚
