July 2016 Favourites

August 2, 2016

Hello Everyone!

July has come and gone and you know what that means…it’s favourites time. July was a super busy month for me so I did have many makeup-less days, but when I got a chance to wear makeup I had some clear favourites that I really want to share.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation + Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

MUFE and Too Faced

I discovered new favourite foundation combination in the month of July that I have been obsessed with. Although I wouldn’t say that I really have a tan, I have been noticing that my chest is slightly more yellow than my face right now and it was making my regular foundations look a little off. Most of my foundations are pretty pink-toned since that matches me the majority of the time, so none of these were working for me. I decided that I needed a bit more yellow in my foundation to match my chest, so I picked up my Too Faced Born This Way foundation, since it is by far the most yellow foundation that I own; usually it’s too yellow for me. I wasn’t sure if this was too yellow on its own, so I mixed in the MUFE Ultra HD, which has a neutral undertone. Together the colour match of these is perfect for me and these blend together to be basically flawless. This combination creates a natural finish that is full coverage and long-lasting even in heat and humidity. I will likely be wearing this combination for the rest of the summer; I love it that much.

Nars Dual-Intensity Blush- Frenzy

In July, I treated myself to a Sephora haul and this blush was one of the products I picked up. I have swatched these so many times and put them back, but this time I decided to go for it.  I picked up the shade Frenzy, which is a gold highlight and an almost blood orange coloured blush. I loved each of these separately, but mixed together is what sold me. Together these shades make a super glowy coral shade that I am totally obsessed with. I like the flexibility that I get with this product; I can use the highlight and blush on their own, wet or dry or I can use it together. I will say that this blush does need to be built up a bit to get the colour pay off I like, but it does look pretty for just a light wash of colour as well.

Make Up For Ever Star Powder- 975

In the month of July, I was still using my ABH Modern Renaissance Palette to death, but I was also trying to switch things up a bit. I bought this pigment in NYC back in February and I hadn’t played with it a ton. I busted it out this month and it’s one of my favourite lid shades. This is a super glittery rose gold shade, that gives a really metallic look to the eye. In direct sunlight, this has a ton of multi-coloured reflects that make it really beautiful and unique.

Soleil Tan de Chanel

You know it’s summer when I pull this out of the drawer. In the summer this bronzer is my go-to to bring some warmth to my skin. This might look a bit intimidating at first, as it is super warm, I find if I use this in controlled areas it brings a beautiful summer glow to my skin. Even as pale as I am, I can still wear this and it doesn’t come across orange. I will wear this buffed under and on my cheeks and around my hairline. I just watch to make sure I don’t blend it too far down, because that’s when it starts to look a bit too warm on my skin. This was in my July favourites last year as well, it just really is a go-to summer product for me. In the summer I can’t stop using using this, but in the winter I never reach for it. Does anyone else have products like that?

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops- Celestial

My last favourite for the month of July probably won’t come as a shock to anyone, as I have been wearing these non-stop. I already wrote a full review on these, so definitely check that out if you want all the details. I have really been enjoying these and I think I want another shade that is a little more warm toned since most of my looks are warm.
