I am finally back! It’s been more than 2 weeks at this point since I last posted and that was just way too long! Life just needs to slow down a little so I have time to blog to my heart’s content!
Some of February was pretty make-upless I’ll admit. I got my wisdom teeth out and had the flu towards the end of the month, so I really didn’t care about what I looked like. After a few days without makeup, I was dying to play with it again. But despite that, I have some clear favourites that I’ve been dying to share. Some you will have seen before in haul posts and some stuff I haven’t shown yet.
My first favourite came out my most recent ELF haul and it’s the Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream.
This has quickly become my “go to bronzer”. This is my first cream bronzer and I’m hooked. I find this to be so much less work than a powder bronzer because it blends so much easier and there is so much less buffing required for a natural look. To use this I use my F86 Brush from Sigma and paint this onto my face. I put it on the edges of my face (forehead, sides, under my cheekbones, under my chin) and then blend it in with my regular foundation brush. I think using my foundation brush is the trick to this, as it soaks up the extra product, so it’s not too dark. I think part of the reason why I’m enjoying this so much is because the cream formula gives a glow to my skin that powder bronzer just doesn’t give me. My skin is dry, so glow is welcomed and rewarded. The blush part of this product is nice as well, but it does take a bit of buffing because it’s pretty pigmented. The bronzer is the real winner for me. For $3 full price, this was such a steal and I highly recommend it.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Pencil-005 Nude
My second favourite is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Waterproof Pencil Nude. I have been looking for this for a while and I am so glad to have finally found it! I use this to line my waterline to brighten up my eyes and it does a great job. It’s creamy and doesn’t tug on my eye. If you are looking for a way to brighten up your eyes that is less harsh than white, this is the way to go. Immediately after using mine, my sister went out and bought her own, it’s that good. If you are a tired student like me, you should own this.
Naked 3 Palette
My next favourite has been my go to palette for the month of February. I have pretty much reached for this every single day in February. It is so easy to get a complete look with minimal effort. For my hazel eyes this is the most complementary palette I own for sure. I did a complete review, so for more info click here!
My third favourite is a brush I have been obsessed with since the day I got it! It’s the Sigma F86 brush. I have found so many uses for this and in February I found even more.
I was using this for blending in concealer and it is perfect for that, but now I’m always stuck deciding what to use it for because of my new use. My new use is to use this brush for contouring. The tapered end is the perfect shape to put bronzer under your cheekbones and on the sides of your face. With the cream bronzer I mentioned above, this is the best brush. It applies cream products so beautifully because the bristles are so dense. Plus it’s synthetic so it doesn’t soak up all the product. This brush can do so many things, it’s become a staple in my brush collection. Also, I’ve washed it several times now and it hasn’t shed, so that’s a nod to it’s quality.
Benefit They’re Real
I officially have a holy grail mascara. It’s that good.
I naturally do not have long, thick eyelashes, so I’m always on the hunt for a really good mascara. Lately I have tested out a bunch, some I liked and some I hated, but this I LOVE. I bought a sample size of this at the end of January and I haven’t touched anything else since. My favourite part of this mascara is the brush. It has little spikes on the end and they are great for separating and getting each and every lash. It does collect a little excess mascara, but if you wipe the end off first, it’s amazing. It doesn’t flake and never smudges. At the end of the day it looks the exact same as when you put it on. After trying the butterfly mascara, I am so glad to have a no fuss mascara. I don’t need to switch my hand around or work to try and get my eyes to match. This is well the money in my opinion. I can see why this is the #1 product for Benefit.
My last 2 favourites are both skincare favourites from the last month.
Marcelle Night Cream
The first one has been my dry skin solution for the last month. On a normal, not frigidly cold day, my skin is dry. On days like we’ve been getting lately, dry is an understatement. My skin has been the Sahara Desert during this winter. I was using the Simple Light Moisturizer as my day and night moisturizer, but it just wasn’t cutting it. Steve’s mom suggested Marcelle to me a while back as a great brand for sensitive skin, so I decided to check it out. I picked up their Night Cream and it has been a skin saver. Since I started using this my skin hasn’t been dry at all. I know it’s because of this cream because while I was sick I got super lazy with my skincare and didn’t use it consistently and my skin was craving the moisture that this gives. It’s thick, but not greasy and it soaks right in. For sensitive skin people like me, it’s fragrance free as well, so I’ve had no irritation what so ever. If this can fix my skin, it’s genius. I’m super glad to have purchased this. Better skin makes makeup so much better.
Soap and Glory: The Greatest Scrub Of All
From the name, you can tell Soap and Glory thinks this is awesome and so do I. I saw this scrub during a trip to Shopper’s Drug Mart and it was on sale so I decided to give it a try. I still love my homemade recipe, but sometimes I get too lazy to make it and it’s nice to have a back-up on hand. I was a bit nervous about trying this because my skin is so sensitive, but I’m super glad that it didn’t irritate my skin. It has a really fine exfoliant in it, but it scrubbed deeper than I expected. A really light hand can be used with this and you’ll still get super soft skin. It smells really clean. I can’t put my finger what exactly the scent is, but kind of minty and is really refreshing. I’ve been using this at least once weekly and if I skip a week, I can tell because my skin just isn’t as smooth.
That is the end of my February Favourites! I hope you all enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments below what products you are currently loving so I can check them out!
Bye for now!
