Spring Cleanout: Product Empties #1!

April 16, 2014

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with an Empties post! Lately I’ve had a small pile of finished or nearly finished products gathering, so I decided to share them. It’s mostly makeup with 1 skincare item, so let’s get to it!

The first empty product is my one skincare empty. It’s the Simple Light Moisturizer, that if you’ve been reading for a while you have for sure seen this. I use this everyday in the morning and before I put makeup on, so I’m not surprised it’s an empty. This is perfectly light, but still moisturizing and not greasy at all. Anyone who sensitive skin should check out this brand, I have a variety of their products and I haven’t experienced any irritation. It’s not enough to use as my sole moisturizer, I still use a different night cream before bed, but it’s moisturizing enough to maintain my skin. I have already repurchased this and although I do consider it to be expensive (about $12/bottle), it lasts a while so I’ll likely stick with it.

My second empty is my ELF Mascara Primer. First off, let me say that I am so sad this is empty. I love this stuff. It makes any good mascara amazing. I have pretty much used all the product out of this and I really can’t stretch any more out of this, as much as I’ve tried. This is something I definitely want to repurchase, so hopefully I will be able to pick up some of this soon because it’s a great product!

The next empty is a sample size of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I got this in a holiday kit around Christmas time and I’ve been using it on and off ever since. It has pretty much dried out and I’ve had it for long enough, so it’s time for this to go. I find this mascara to be hit or miss. Some days when I use this I get fantastic volume that looks like false lashes and other days it’s just a clumpy mess. I think it is a good mascara, but it can get clumpy and once it gets to that point there is no turning back and you’re stuck with it.  I go back and forth on how much I like this and overall I think it’s good-very good, but not fantastic for the price ($30 CAD). I am addicted to the Benefit They’re Real Mascara, one that I feel like is worth it’s price tag.

My fourth empty is a tube of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Very Light/Fair. I have been using this concealer for a few months now and I think it’s pretty decent for its price. I don’t have crazy dark circles by any means and it covers up the bit of darkness I have fairly easily. I do use a powder concealer over it for added coverage and to set it, but it gets the job done on it’s own for the most part. If you have super dark circles, this may not be for you as it’s not a heavy coverage formula, but for what I have it does just fine. I have already repurchased this, as I saw it was on sale for $5, rather than about $8.

The 5th empty is technically not fully empty, but pretty much so I’m including it anyway. It’s my go-to foundation L’Oreal True Match in Soft Ivory, N1. I love this foundation so much. It matches me perfectly and has great coverage. It never looks cakey and has a natural finish. It just checks all the foundation boxes in my books, other than the fact that it has no pump which is so so messy. If it had a pump it would get an A++ from me. For now, I’ll give it an A+ because I haven’t found anything that compares to it. I will definitely be repurchasing this ASAP.

My second last empty is a concealer/highlighter, True Match the Touche Magique. I’ve had this for several months and I stopped using this for a long time and then recently picked it up again a few weeks ago. The reason why I put this down is I was trying to use it solely as a concealer and it really doesn’t work for that. It doesn’t really cover, so much as brighten. Now I mix this with my concealer to brighten and as a highlighter. It does much better to brighten because it definitely doesn’t conceal. I don’t think I’ll repurchase this exact product, but rather something similar. I don’t think it’s horrible, but it definitely shouldn’t be called a concealer.

My last empty is just a sample tube of the ELF Eyelid Primer. It does it’s job, but is nothing spectacular. I don’t have oily eyelids so I don’t really have issues with creasing. I might repurchase, I’m not sure yet.

That’s the end of my empties! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments what products you’ve used up 🙂

Bye for now,
