So yesterday I went shopping and picked up some early birthday goodies for myself. My birthday is this week and I pretty much jumped at the opportunity to hit up a mall. This haul is from Sephora and MAC, which are my favourite stores at the moment. After I brought my purchases home I discovered that everything I bought at Sephora is from brands I’ve never tried before, so these products will be an experiment for me, maybe I’ve found some new favourite brands. Alright let’s get hauling!
I got 2 things at MAC, one thing I’ve already tried and something new.
Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15
Now if you’ve been reading for a while, you may be thinking, didn’t you just buy a Pro Longwear Concealer. And yes I did, but tragedy struck this week resulting in a smashed bottle and concealer splashed all over the floor. I like the glass bottle, but when it hit the floor, I wasn’t thinking happy thoughts. I did manage to salvage some of it and keep it in a Tupperware container but I decided to pick up another while I was here. This time I decided to go a shade lighter to achieve an under eye highlight effect. I had the sales woman put it on me to make sure it would look alright and I was pretty impressed by how brightening this was. This shade won’t be used to cover darkness, but in combination with a shade that matches me to brighten.
Cream Color Base in Hush
The last thing I picked up from MAC is a cream color base in the color Hush. This is a shimmery peach colour with a frosted sheen to it. I think it will be a great blush base or as a highlight when I have some summer colour.
Clinique Cheek Pop- Plum Pop
The first thing I picked up from Sephora is a Clinique Cheek Pop in Plum Pop. I have been looking at these for a while and I was originally sure I would like Ginger Pop, but when I swatched it I wasn’t that impressed. I saw Plum Pop and it was different than any other colour I own, much more purple. I used this today and it’s a really fresh colour for spring!
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick- Pink Quartz
The next thing I picked up from Sephora was a complete impulse purchase for sure. I have been eyeing this but in the shade Nectar for a while, but it’s not sold in store. This shade caught my eye and as soon as I swatched it, it went right into the basket. It’s a beautiful pink-champagne colour when it’s swirled together and I have never seen anything like it. I can see myself using this as a blush topper, highlighter or as an eye shadow which is why I bought it. It’s an expensive product, so the multiple uses makes it worth it. Plus it comes with a ton of product.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
The last thing I bought was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I actually did not expect to find this, since it says online only but my Sephora had it in stock and I couldn’t help myself. This palette has 3 shades, one that I’m going to use as a setting powder and 2 that I will use as highlighters. I’m really glad that this is permanent because now I get 3 shades for only about $10 more than I would pay for only one. These are little smaller, but I get the feeling I won’t need much anyway.
During this trip I also got a few samples and my birthday gift from Sephora.
This year Sephora is giving a Make Up For Ever sample set. I’m VIB, so I just got a sample Smoky Extravagant Mascara and a lipstick. I’m excited to try out the mascara, but the lipstick is a shade that I probably won’t wear. It’s red with a strong brown undertone, a colour my mom frequently wore in the late 90s. Even though I’m going to be a year older, I think I’m still too young for this type of colour.
After Sephora I went into Kiehl’s to ask some skincare questions. Lately I can’t seem to get my skin to be smooth, I won’t get acne but I’ll get little bumps on my cheeks. Most things were pretty expensive, so I just got samples of what they suggested and if it works I’ll order online. If you know anything for the bumps, I’d love to know in the comments because it’s driving me insane. They don’t even go away when I exfoliate.
The first one is of their Line Reducing Concentrate, which I won’t use for lines obviously, but the person working there said it does wonders for skin texture which is what I need. The next one is of their Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I’m going to try instead of night cream. He said my night cream might be too heavy, causing the bumps on my skin which is quite possible because my night cream is very thick. It was great during the winter, but I don’t think I need something that heavy during this time of year. I hope that this will replace that. Lastly, he threw in a sample of their Oil-Free Lotion for me to try just as an extra.
Well there’s my haul! I got some great stuff, and you’ll probably see it again very soon in favourites and tutorials. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments what you’ve hauled lately!
Bye for now!
