August 2014 Ipsy Bag!

August 11, 2014

Hey Everyone!

A new month is here and that means another Ipsy bag! I cannot believe this is already my fourth Ipsy bag, it’s crazy how fast time is going by! This month’s theme is ‘beauty schooled’ for back to school obviously. Thank you Ipsy for reminding me that it’s back to the student grind in less than 1 month.

The Bag

This is going to start off negative, but I just have to say it. I love last month’s bag a lot more than this month’s. Last month’s was totally my style and this month’s is just blah to me. It just looks cheap. I get what they were going for with the pencil case vibe, but it’s just not my thing. Plus mine came all crumpled so that makes it worse. It’s a miss for me on this. But the way I look at it, you win some, you lose some, so no big deal. Better the bag be a miss than the products, right?

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

The first thing that came in my bag is an extra gentle dry shampoo. I don’t get greasy hair, but my hair is thick so I do use dry shampoo occasionally for volume. I haven’t found a dry shampoo I love yet, so I’m happy this was in my bag. If it works, I’ll be thrilled. It does have a super strong grandma’s perfume type smell, so I’m really hoping that that doesn’t stick around once it dries in my hair. This is a fair sized bottle, so I’m impressed by that.

Flying Solo Eyeshadow by J Cat Beauty- Half Naked

The second item in my August Ipsy bag was a single eyeshadow by J Cat Beauty, a brand I have never heard of before. It’s a really pretty peachy champagne shade that is right up my alley. I just need to remind myself to use it. I tend to reach for palettes since I don’t have many single eyeshadows, but I’m going to set this out because it’s such a nice shade. The shadow is very buttery and pigmented so it checks all my necessary eyeshadow boxes! I think this would go well with some of the shades in the Chocolate Bar Palette.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer

The next item I got this month was a primer. This is a pore filler type primer that I’ve heard good things about. I don’t have tons of issues with large pores, but I am testing out a foundation that I’m finding can settle in them (review soon), so I’m going to try it with this. This is a really good sized sample as well. One thing I noticed immediately, this has a strong smell as well. It has almost a bug spray smell…not really pleasant.

Mongongo Lip Conditioner by Jersey Shore Sun

The second last goody in my bag was a lip balm by Jersey Shore Sun. I wasn’t initially thrilled about getting a lip balm in my bag, but this is really nice. It smells REALLY good, very citrusy and orangey. It seems to moisturize my lips alright, but it is a bit waxy, so it takes a while to sink in.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

The last item I’m pretty excited for. This mascara is fairly new so it’s nice to get to try it and see if it’s worth the hype. This is a high end product, so I don’t mind that it’s a fairly small sample. It doesn’t look like anything special just from looking at it, but I’m going to give it a fair shot.

There you have it! Can’t believe next month I’ll be putting September in the title, time is going too quickly! I hope you enjoyed this post, comment below with what you got in your August Ipsy Bag!

Bye for now,

Ohh will be interested to know what the mascara is like! The eye shadow is a lovely shade, I have the same problem in that my single shades don’t get used too often! X

Ya I’m curious about the mascara too! I’ll definitely update since it’s a brand new product.
