February is coming so that means it’s favourites time! I feel like it’s been forever since I did a monthly favourites because I skipped December Favourites in lieu of my 2014 Favourites. So needless to say, I’ve been itching to write this post. I can’t wait any longer, so let’s get to it!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow- Soft Brown and Medium Brown
My first favourite has actually been a favourite of mine for a long time now. This month I switched it up a little bit and it has furthered my love for it. I had been using the shade Soft Brown for months now, but I recently decided to get 1 shade darker to give my brows a little more definition. I picked up the shade Medium Brown and I have using it on the outer half of my brows, along with Soft Brown on the inner half and then blending them together in the middle. This gives a more defined, yet natural look as the outer tail of your brow is usually slightly darker anyway. I find that my brows look much better in photos since I started doing this, as my arch is more defined and doesn’t fade away so much in pictures.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I tried out a new mascara this month and it was a winner. I have been finding that some of my previous favourite mascaras have made my eyes really itchy (Benefit They’re Real, Too Faced Better Than Sex) so I’m on a quest to find a mascara that doesn’t irritate my eyes but still gives me lots of volume and length. I had heard a little bit about this mascara, so I decided to give it a try for myself. I’m here to say, this mascara is awesome. It gives incredible separation, gives and holds curl and does not flake! It has a curved almost spoon shaped brush that is perfect for pushing your lashes up and out.
It’s one of the best mascaras I’ve ever found for holding a curl and it doesn’t get all goopy in the corners of my eyes. The opposite of the curved side of the brush has very short bristles, perfect for doing your bottom lashes. It pretty much does everything I ask for in a mascara. The only negative on this is that it is ridiculously hard to get off. Like it makes They’re Real look weak. Even with an oil based makeup remover, I don’t get it all off. I need to try and find a method that will remove all of it.
Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette
My next favourite probably won’t come as a shock, but I cannot put my Jaclyn Hill Palette down. It has so many beautiful warm shades, which are my current favourite thing to wear. I have tried a ton of warm eye looks with this, but also a really cool purple eye look. It has tons of possibilities and is great quality. I cannot wait to use this in a tutorial post.
I do have a post with swatches and my first impressions if you’re interested in this palette.
ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows
This favourite won’t come as a shock either. I am obsessed with my ColourPop shadows. These are so incredible and like nothing else I own. They have basic staples, but also some shades that are totally unmatched in other brands. For $5 I cannot recommend these enough.
If you’re curious about ColourPop, I do have a full review dedicated to these shadows.
Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush- Celebrated
I have a new favourite blush. I recently swatched this blush at Sephora and immediately knew it would be mine. I’m aware that this looks like nothing in the pan, and pretty uninteresting swatched, but on this is the most perfect neutral blush I have. It’s one of those blushes that goes with absolutely everything. It’s not in your face, but it says I’m glowing and I’m healthy if that makes sense. It’s a very neutral pinky-peach kind of shade that almost has some brown in it to make it look super natural and almost like flush with a bit of a tan. It’s like the weirdest but most wonderful shade. This is significantly softer in texture than the other Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush I have, which is an added bonus. I’m not sure if this is limited edition, but if you have fair skin like I do, run and grab this, it’s perfect.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish- Perfect Topping
My next favourite comes from a mini haul I did right after Christmas. I was intrigued my the pattern on this and once I swatched it, I knew it would really compliment my skin tone. It’s mainly pink with some gold, which compliments cool skin really well. What is really love about this is that it can be built up to whatever intensity you want. It initially goes on very soft, but can be built up to be much more glowy. It’s not immediately bright, but it just gives such a pretty glow. I especially love this down the centre of my nose- it draws the light right to it accentuates the shape and bridge, but it’s not too gold or bronze, which can look a bit muddy since I’m so fair.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner- Black Ink
This favourite won’t come as a surprise either. I also picked up this gel liner in my post-Christmas haul and I have been completely obsessed with it. I have been loving winged liner all month long and this is perfect for that. Not too wet causing it to smear and not to dry that I have to tug to get a nice wing. It’s a great consistency and wears really well.
Bdellium Tools- 762 Brush
This brush has stepped my wing game up. This brush is the perfect size for winged liner, it’s very thin which makes it precise, but not too thin that it’s hard to get a good thickness. I mentioned this in my Bobbi Brown liner review from earlier this month, but the Bobbi Brown liner and this brush are a match made in heaven. They make it so easy to get a perfect wing. This brush is so inexpensive and I want about 5 more.
Lime Crime Velvetine- Wicked
I almost have no words for how much I love this. I had been eyeing this shade for so long and decided to order it this month and I couldn’t be more glad I did. This seriously might be my favourite lip product I’ve ever tried in my life. The shade is perfect, it’s easy to apply and it stays put for HOURS. Hours and hours. I wore this out last weekend, put it on in the morning and it was still on at dinner (8pm or later). These are advertised as not requiring a lipliner, but I do wear one, as my lips are uneven and I much prefer to use a lip liner so that I can shape them. I have been using the Jordana Easy Liner in Cabernet, which is the perfect lip liner for this shade. It just creates the most gorgeous vampy lip that is 100% matte. It looks sexy, yet badass. Once our dollar is better, I will definitely be ordering more of these.
I have picked up 3 brands (Kat Von D, Lime Crime and Rimmel) of long wearing liquid lipsticks and I’m planning on doing a face-off to see how they compare, so keep an eye out for that coming up soon.
So there you have it! Leave me a comment below with a favourite of yours from January! I love finding new products through all of you!
Bye for now!
