March 2015 Favourites

March 25, 2015

Hi Everyone!

April is around the corner and that means it’s time to round up my favourite products for the month of March. I don’t have a ton of makeup favourites for this month, but I do have some skincare, body care and a perfume to include. So let’s get right to it!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (what a mouthful of a name)

My first favourite of the month is a concealer I have been testing out for a few weeks. I’m a big fan of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation so when I saw that they were coming out with a concealer I was super excited. I’m always looking for a great highlighting  concealer to brighten so I decided to give this a go. My usual Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer had just run out so it was perfect timing. I picked up the lightest shade, Fair Neutral which is just light enough to highlight slightly. They only have neutral and warm shades it seems and the range doesn’t offer any cool shades. I’m cool toned and the neutral is just fine for me. This concealer has good coverage and blends out way easier than the Nars so that’s one of the reasons I’ve been enjoying it, but my favourite part is the wand. The wand in this concealer is so awesome. It’s a flat double sided doefoot so it collects just the right of product for highlighting all over my face. Plus the wand is super soft and flexible so it literally glides across the skin. It’s on the thicker side so a little goes a long way. It’s super hard for me to find a shade light enough to brighten and this is the closest I’ve come.

St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion

I do have one body care favourite for March. I don’t know about anyone else but I take tons of time to care for my face, but I’m terrible at caring for the skin on the rest of my body. I skip out way too often on using lotion after a shower or anything. I picked up this lotion from Walmart frankly because the spray top intrigued me. Everything is better in a spray can I think (except cheese…blah). This is way faster than the traditional pump or tub of lotion and it dries significantly faster so I don’t get that sticky feeling. It has a wide sprayer so it covers quite a bit of area at once. The sprayer makes it super quick to get your back too which is handy. And the scent I got is Energizing Citrus and Vitamin C so it smells amazing!

MAC Lip Pencil- Soar

My second makeup favourite is MAC’s lip pencil in Soar. This was my first MAC lip pencil and I think I’m addicted. I just love using a pencil all over my lips for a super defined and matte look. I’m really into that lately. I went into MAC looking for another pencil that was sold out and the sales associate suggested this instead. Now I’ve heard of this but never picked it up because frankly I could care less about Kylie Jenner’s trend and I figured I’d be too pale to wear this. Once I swatched it I knew I would like it so I picked it up and now I can’t put it down. The shade is the perfect mix of pink and brown and isn’t too dark for my fair skin. Plus this pencil is super versatile. It can go with most nudes, but I’ve also paired it with peachy-pink lipsticks and it looked awesome.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume

I have a perfume favourite for this month. Earlier this month (end of last maybe) I was lucky enough to be gifted this by by friend Jen. She knows how much I love this perfume and how I’ve contemplated buying it for months and have just never went through a purchased it. This is the scent my mom always wore when I was little so it has sentimental memories I think. It’s a warm, floral scent that is sophisticated but not too old for me. I was extremely surprised to get this, but it was so sweet of Jen to pick this out for me.

MAC Vanilla Pigment

Vanilla pigment has been a huge favourite of mine this month, not as a shadow but as a highlighter. I picked this up in the ‘to-go’ size since pigments last so long and that makes this a $12 highlighter. This has a really pretty iridescence that looks really pretty when it catches the light. It’s perfect because it can be tapped on super light or brought right up to intense by layering or using it damp. I like to use my finger with this, it’s the easiest method since the container is difficult to get a brush into. It’s just the perfect mix because of it’s white base with both pink and gold in it. If you have Colourpop’s Girly, they are pretty similar.

Clarisonic Mia

If you saw my Pre-Use post, then you would have seen me mention that I recently purchased a Clarisonic Mia. I was originally going to post a 1 week update, but the timing was bad so I decided to post a 2 week update instead, in case you’re wondering. This isn’t a favourite because I’ve seen drastic changes as of yet, but it’s a favourite because it has just because an integral part of my routine. I use this every single night and my skin just feels clean after. I used to be kind of lazy about washing my face if I hadn’t worn makeup that day, but now I use this even if I didn’t wear makeup that day. It really makes my skin feel clean and so soft! I will give all the details of how it’s going when I post my 2 week update on Saturday.

Milani Luminoso

I have been reaching for an oldie but a goodie in my collection all month long. This blush always looks good. It’s perfect to wake up my face but it’s not too much. I never get sick of this. I mentioned this in my favourite Peach/Coral products and it was one of the first products I thought of for that post. I think everyone should have this. It has some shimmer, but it doesn’t accentuate texture, lines or anything like that.

So that’s it for my March Favourites. I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave me a comment below with your favourites for March!

Bye for now!

Great post! I love all of your favorites! Especially the Luminoso blush! I love that blush so much! I like St. Ive’s products too so maybe I should try out the Fresh Hydration Lotion too. And I have heard such great things about MAC’s Soar lip liner. Such a pretty shade! 🙂 xo

Thank you! I never thought I would like Soar but it definitely surprised me. You can really play up more brown or more pink depending on how you wear it. The st. Ives has really helped with dry winter skin which is perfect heading into spring!

I love my Mia so much! It takes some time, but it helped my skin a lot! It’s worth waiting it out. It also depends on what type of face wash you’re using with it! 🙂

I already can’t live without it. How long did it take for you to see changes? My skin is already much softer but I’m really looking for it to help with texture on my cheeks.

Soar looks beautiful, especially against your skin tone.

I need that blush but I’m on a blush no-buy for awhile.

I have so many but I have gotten so much use out of this one. So good!

I love that Daisy scent from Marc Jacobs

Me too! Such a nice floral scent without being grannyish lol

I used to love the UD foundation, but my skin has started to react to it, so now I’m a no foundation girl 🙁 I still want to try the concealer anyways 😉

I might have to go on a perfume-sniff in the airport, I need something nice and new for spring!

    • Reply Chelsey March 26, 2015 at 12:34 pm

Aww that’s too bad! It’s a nice foundation. Definitely go smell Daisy, it’s awesome 🙂

      • Reply MaggieMayQ March 26, 2015 at 12:38 pm

        I know – I loved it 🙁
So I need to find something new. It’s on my “To-Do-When-In-UK”-list.

I wonder if it’s a particular ingredient, it would be helpful to know so you don’t have the same thing again.

          • MaggieMayQ March 26, 2015 at 2:39 pm

Me too. But I’m not sure what it was, I still have it – so I’m gonna give it ago again. Just to see if I still react, might have been in combination with something else.

That’s the tricky part about makeup, one thing is the products that give you breakouts. But “basic” allergic/skin reaction is a pain in the butt!

Love Luminoso and can’t wait for your 2 week update of the clarisonic. Did it make you break out cause I’ve heard there’s a purge period?

    • Reply Chelsey March 26, 2015 at 2:18 pm

I’m seeing an odd pimple here or there, but nothing crazy thus far. I won’t say it’s all from the Clarisonic but some of it definitely is because the ‘breakout’ is like on my forehead and I never breakout there.

Do you find the Milani blush long lasting or do you need to reapply?

    • Reply Chelsey March 31, 2015 at 10:29 am

I don’t find it fades or anything, but I do have normal-dry skin so I can’t speak for how they do on oily or combo skin. On me they last very well.
