Irresistible Me Hair Extension Review*

October 14, 2015

Hi Everyone!

I was contacted by Irresistible Me a few weeks ago and was offered the chance to test out a set of their extensions. I have been curious about extensions for a while now, so this was a great opportunity to give them a go.

Irresistible Me has a few different extension types available for purchase on their site. I chose from the Royal Remy line since those are all human hair and the thickness carries through from root to tip. Since my natural hair is pretty thick I wanted to be sure that they would blend nicely and match the thickness of my own hair. I was a little nervous on picking a colour, since my hair is currently red and red can be tricky to match. I knew if they didn’t match, my hair dresser could colour them for me, but if that could be avoided it would be the best case scenario. I ended up taking a guess, even though you can send them a picture of your hair and they will match you. I didn’t have a fresh colour at that point so I didn’t want them matched to my colour at the time. I chose Royal Rosewood (99J) and they are an identical match with no colouring on the extensions needed.

In terms of length and weight, the Royal Remy line starts at 14″ and 100 grams and goes all the way up to 24″ and 200 grams. I knew I didn’t want to go too long because I’m average height and too much hair just looks really overwhelming, but I did want to add some length as well. I decided to go with 20″, 200 grams which turned out to be plenty long. The set came with 8 wefts.

Application and Wear

Other than finding the perfect colour, I was worried about getting them in right so that the clips weren’t showing. Let’s be real, we’ve all seen that girl and no one wants to be that girl, so I was a little paranoid. It did take me a bit to figure out where each of the pieces should go, but once I got it down there wasn’t really an issue with exposed clips. Particularly, the thickest 4 clip piece needed a bit of playing around, if I put it too low it’s too wide for my head, but too high and you can see it. Right in the middle is the perfect spot for this. Irresistible Me does have tutorials on this on their Youtube channel, but I had to try it first hand to really get it. My point is, if you can’t get it right way, just keep playing around and it will get easier.

In terms of wear time, these do pretty well. After a long day, some clips will need a little adjustment, but nothing fell out by any means. A little teasing at the roots did seem to help secure everything, but it wasn’t completely necessary. I did have some tangling, but I think that’s to be expected since they are long and thick. To work out the knots I just applied a little hair oil and used my Tangle Teaser.

Honestly, after wearing these all done up, I will 100% reach for them for special occasions. My hair just doesn’t look as good without them. If you’ve been trying to get movie star hair and just can’t get there- try extensions; that’s the secret I swear.

I have included a before picture without extensions and then some after pictures as well so you can see the difference. In the first after picture I was wearing a 3 clip weft, the 4 clip, 2 2 clips and 2 1 clip wefts. To get the kind of style I like, I don’t have to wear all the wefts. I have a pretty small head so I don’t think all the clips would fit. This is handy though because I can have the extensions styled curly and straight so it’s less prep when I want to wear them.

This is the one area that did strike me as a little odd about Irresistible Me. They don’t offer any storage options on their site. I have seen other companies sell travel bags, hangers etc. on their site, but Irresistible Me doesn’t sell anything like that, which is odd because I think people would purchase it. To store mine, I just purchased a pants hanger from Walmart and then hung them in our closet. As much as a hanger isn’t completely necessary, it is handy to keep them from getting tangled. It’s also super handy for styling them off your head because you need something to hold them up while you style. For travelling I piled the hair together neatly and then carried them in a big ziploc bag, which works really well.

Overall I really like these extensions. The hair is excellent quality and has been styled, brushed and traveled with multiple times by me already and they look exactly like when I got them. The hair is soft and shiny and I haven’t experienced any intense shedding. I’m not great at hair, so it won’t be an everyday thing for me since I just don’t spend time on my hair daily. When I do wear them I love the way they make my hair look and I will definitely wear them for all special occasions in the future.  I am really impressed with the quality of these and how well they blend with my own hair. People that I see often didn’t even know I was wearing extensions since they blended with my hair so well. If you’re going to purchase a set of extensions, save your money and buy a quality set like these and with care they should last you a long time. I definitely recommend this and if you’re in the market for extensions, check these out!
