I have been itching to make a Colourpop order for quite a while now and I finally did it. I did purchase Colourpop products well over a year ago, long before they had many of the products they do now. At that time I only purchased eyeshadows, which I like but don’t reach for that often since I feel like they are more work to use than a regular powder shadow. This time, I went hard for lippies and that’s what I’ll be sharing today.
First off, I wanted some of Colourpop’s Lippie Stix. The shape of these really intrigues me and they have a ton of colour choices.
Excuse the changes in lighting in these photos, natural light was messing with me.
The first shade out of the 6 stix I purchased is called Button. This shade is one of their originals and is a satin peachy nude shade. I love shades like this, so I was all over this one of course.
The second lippie stick I picked up is called Cookie. Cookie is much more beige than Button and is a matte finish
I’ll admit I would have probably gotten this one no matter what shade it was, just for the name. Luckily I do really like this colour. This is a satin finish and is a very muted, rusty coral shade.
I have an unhealthy obsession with brown lips. I love the idea of taking a colour that looks ugly in the tube and rocking it with just the right look. Is that weird? Probably. This is a matte finish and is a warm, yellow based brown. This is one of the lippies Kathleen Lights created as part of her Where the Night is collab.
To screw with the whole neutral theme, I picked up Gossip next. I’m not entirely sure why I picked up this shade, although it is pretty. This is a true blue-based pink and reminds me of bubblegum. I’m sure I’ll wear this, even if it’s not my usual anymore.
Lastly for Lippie Stix, I picked up Grunge. This looked really unique on the website and because of my love affair with brown lips, I went for it. I’m not sure if I love how this look on me, but I do have a look in mind to try this with before I form any final thoughts on it.
Ultra Satin Lips
I picked up a couple of the Ultra Satin Lips during this haul. I would have picked up more, but some that I wanted were out of stock and a lot of the other shades just didn’t really appeal to me. There are a ton of purples in this formula and I don’t wear a ton of purple lips.
The first of the 2 satin lips that I picked out is Magic Wand. Magic Wand is a beigey-nude with a slight peach undertone, but mostly beige. I reach for colours like this often so I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this. I initially thought it was like Bare with Me from Dose of Colors but they’re actually quite different. Magic Wand is way more beige and less peach than Bare With Me.
Like I said before, brown lips just speak to me. Tansy needed to join the family. Tansy is a super warm brown that will look amazing with very warm eye looks, which we know I love.
Ultra Matte Lips
Lastly, I had to pick up some of the Ultra Matte Lips. I love matte lips and liquid lipsticks are my go-to.
I have been eyeing this one for so long. Finally, this baby (bumble bee?) is mine. This is a rusty terra cotta colour and is right up my alley. This colour screams 90s to me, which makes me love it even more.
Second we have Chi. This one I acquired but did not initially purchase. My friend Jen and I did a joint order to save on shipping and she originally purchased this one, but didn’t care for it. I really liked it, so I bought it from her. This is a very cool toned nude, that almost borders on the greige trend that is so popular. I don’t really own anything like this so it definitely intrigued me. It dries a lot darker than it initially goes on or swatches, which I like because I own nothing like it. It almost dries like a light mocha kind of colour. This shade was part of Karrueche’s collection that she created with Colourpop a couple of months ago in case you’re curious.
The next Ultra Matte I purchased is Donut. This colour is so pretty, but I have to say, the formula is not great on this. I wore this yesterday and I had to play with it quite a bit to get it to go on evenly and not completely streaky. I have tried all of the lippies on and this is luckily the only one like that. It looks fine from afar, but up close it’s a bit of a mess. I will say though that this lasted amazing yesterday, even through a greasy pizza lunch.
Second to last we have Instigator. Instigator is actually fairly similar to Dose of Colours Bare With Me that I compared Magic Wand to earlier. This is a true peachy nude and totally my kind of shade.
Last but not least is Lumiere 2. Lumiere 2 was created by Kathleen Lights as the liquid version of the Lumiere Lippie Stick. This is a mauve pink, but is a lot darker than I was expecting. I’m not sure if I like this on myself, but I’ll give it a try.
So there you have it! Are there other shades/products from Colourpop that I need to try?
Bye for now!
